FISC-CCCS is a program of Goodwill NCW

Debt Management Plans (DMP)

The FISC debt management program is designed to help people solve their debt problems. Your situation may not be as serious as you think. With the help from a professional, certified consumer credit counselor, you may be able to get out of debt and avoid bankruptcy.

What is a Debt Management Plan (DMP)?

Your counselor will review your financial situation and make appropriate recommendations. When necessary, the recommendation will be to pay off your debt through a DMP. With a DMP you will make one payment per month to us, and we pay each of your creditors. You consolidate your debts into 1 quick, convenient payment. The end result: you get out of debt.

Will my employer or creditors know I have an appointment with FISC/CCCS?

No one will know you have an appointment unless you tell them. If a creditor calls, we will only verify the appointment you made with us if you authorize it in writing.

Is there a charge for this service?

We can keep our fees low because we receive donations from people who care about the work we do.  We also receive funding from the United Way and creditors (banks, retailers, credit unions, etc.)

If you sign up on a Debt Management Plan there is a fee of 10% of the monthly payment up to $30.00 per month to administer the plan.

How do I get started?

You start by completing our Info Pac and then by making an appointment with one of our friendly certified financial counselors.

Will creditors continue their finance charges?

Some creditors will stop or reduce their finance charges and/or other fees for clients on a DMP. Many creditors will accept reduced payments from individuals for a short period of time.  We work with credit card companies, medical debt, payday lenders, collection agencies and other creditors.

How does using CCCS affect my Credit Report?

The impact on your credit report will depend on the creditor’s policy in reporting to the Credit Bureau and the status of your credit report prior to your working with us. The DMP does not interfere with the contract you have with that creditor. How your credit report will be viewed after the DMP starts will depend on the policies of the lender or other creditor.
